Getting the Most Out of Your Coloring Pages

We recently released a collection of free Bible Coloring Pages. They are ready to use and can be printed and enjoyed right away.

We thought it would be helpful to share a few tips so you can get the most out of them.

Whether you are using them as a creative outlet, a fun activity with your kids, or a way to meditate and memorize Scripture—we hope these tips will help you enjoy them all the more!

Paper Matters

One way to greatly improve your coloring experience is to print on good quality paper. Basic printer paper will still get the job done—but upgrading to something more substantial will make a big difference.

We recommend using something with a little more weight.

A heavier paper will ensure your markers don’t bleed through to the other side, and will also create a more enjoyable colouring experience.

Sometimes known as card stock, most office supply stores will sell a few different options. You can also visit your local art store or print shop if you want even more variety. We recommend at least 60lbs weight.

Just make sure you don’t get anything with a ‘glossy’ finish!

Trim it up

If you are printing from a home printer, you will likely have a white border all the way around.

It may not be a big deal for most people—but if you’re like us and obsess over quality and details, you may want to trim them.

We recommend three different wants to trim your Coloring Pages.

  1. A paper cutter. This is by far the best way, as it’s easy and always guarantees a clean, solid cut. You can get these at any office or art store. Bonus: comes in really handy if you’re into anything relating to arts and crafts :)
  2. An X-acto knife, ruler and cutting pad. A little more labor intensive, but it will also achieve a clean and precise cut.
  3. Scissors. Maybe a bit less straight and precise, but it gets the job done.

Markers, pens or pencils?

If you’re going to spend a considerable amount of time coloring, you will want to have good tools.

You can use coloured pencils, markers or gel pens. It’s worth experimenting with all three and finding what works best for you.

We personally love using our Fabel Castell Colored Pencil. We have also experimented with Copic markers, Sharpie markers and Tombow brush pens.

Once you know what style you like best, we recommend getting a larger pack with more colours. This will save you time and money in the long run, as buying single can add up quite quickly!

And more colours means more creative options!

Go forth and color!

We hope these tips are helpful as you embark on your Bible Coloring Journey. Our hope is that these Coloring Pages would help you connect the beauty of God’s Word.

Hopefully these tips help make that process a little easier!
