I was baptized 16 years ago today.
I was 24 years old. Surrounded by friends and family, it was one of the most significant days of my life (see the end of this article for the full story!).
I’ve been blessed to attend many baptisms. And, by God’s grace, I’ve even baptized several men as they committed their life to Christ.
There is nothing quite like a baptism to symbolize a new beginning!
The Bible says our old self is buried in baptism and we are raised to a new life in Christ (Romans 6:4).
It’s a moment worth celebrating!
If you’re looking for a meaningful baptism gift, we got you covered.
Here are 27 of our favorite gifts for somebody getting baptized in 2022.

Classic Christian Books
There are certain Christian classics that have been foundational in my walk with God.
Here are a few timeless Christian books that make great baptism gifts:
This was one of the first books I read as a young Christian. It had a massive impact on me and helped lay a solid foundation in my understanding of the Christian faith. CS Lewis takes the reader on a simple, apologetic journey through the Christian faith. Perfect for any new believer.
A beautiful Christian allegory written in 1678 that will inspire one’s faith. It’s recognized as one of the most significant works of theological fiction in history. It features a story of man’s progress through life in search of salvation—available in an easy-to-read modern translation.
This was another book I read in my first year as a Christian. I remember going for many walks contemplating the truths in this book. One of the best-selling books of all time for a good reason, this book makes a great gift for a new Christian.
A thought-provoking look at God’s greatest gift to mankind: grace. Award-winning author Philip Yancey explores what grace is, simplifying the often misunderstood biblical concept—and paints a picture of grace’s life-changing power in our lives.
Classic Devotional books
New Christians need guidance along their journey with God.
Alongside their Bible, a devotional can be a great companion to help them draw closer to God.
Known as “the golden book of Oswald Chambers”, this devotional is an inspiring sidekick for any believer, old or young, to journey with God. Featuring 365 days of devotions, it’s a simple way to connect with God every day of the year.
This is a thought-provoking devotional that dives into the Book of Proverbs to impart God’s wisdom into the reader. This daily companion contains inspiring lessons from Keller to help us understand what it means to live the Christian life.

Since my wife is a Christian and I moved to Houston years ago, I decided to get baptized here at https://lhhouston.church/ministries/baptism/, and I’ve been coming here for worship ever since! My life has truly been changed by it, and I will always be grateful to God for giving me a purpose.

I am so proud that you chose to follow Jesus our lord and savior. Peace be with you.

Blessed to read your story. I was baptized as an infant but took the opportunity as an adult to be fully immersed in the Jordan River in Israel. What an experience to know physically the darkness and helpless feeling under black water and to be lifted up into the brightness of the sun. It was clearly a demonstration of what had taken place in my spiritual life years ago. Our God is so good! Remembering uplifts our spirit once again. Thank you for sharing.
