27 Unique Baptism Gift Ideas (2023)

27 Unique Baptism Gift Ideas (2023)

Today I’m going to share with you 27 unique baptism gift ideas.

I was baptized 16 years ago today.

I was 24 years old. Surrounded by friends and family, it was one of the most significant days of my life (see the end of this article for the full story!).

I’ve been blessed to attend many baptisms. And, by God’s grace, I’ve even baptized several men as they committed their life to Christ.

There is nothing quite like a baptism to symbolize a new beginning!

The Bible says our old self is buried in baptism and we are raised to a new life in Christ (Romans 6:4).

It’s a moment worth celebrating!

If you’re looking for a meaningful baptism gift, we got you covered.

Here are 27 of our favorite gifts for somebody getting baptized in 2022.

Scripture Art Prints

It should come as no surprise that we think Scripture Art makes an excellent gift!

No matter how long somebody has been in the faith, a Scripture Art print is a great reminder of God’s truth they can place in their home.

With over 75 artworks availableyou’re sure to find one that is the perfect gift for the person being baptized.

My Baptism Story

Writing about gifts for baptism is very meaningful for me. My baptism was one of the most impactful moments in my life. It was when everything changed.

I lived most of my life far from God.

I didn’t grow up Christian. I had never been to church.

As a young man living in downtown Toronto, I had achieved all the things I thought would bring me satisfaction. But I still felt empty.

I knew there had to be something more.

It was around this time that I was given a Bible by a loved one.

At first I rolled my eyes.

But… curiosity got the best of me.

I started reading the Bible and was quite surprised by what I found.

Jesus was not who I thought he was. I was captivated by his words. The way he carried himself. The way he confronted religiosity. I was intrigued, and resolved to learn more.

I mustered up the courage to go to a local church.

The first time I went, I almost left in the middle of the service.

It all seemed so strange to me. But God kept me there, and the message spoke deeply to my heart. I stuck around and met a few people.

Some brothers asked if I’d like to study the Bible. I said yes, and started to meet with them once a week at a coffee shop.

Over the next year, my life slowly started to change.

The more I looked into this man named Jesus, the more I came to believe that he was completely different from anybody else in history. I asked tough questions, wrestled with my lifestyle choices, and studied other religions.

The more I sought the truth, the more Jesus Christ revealed himself to me.

Eventually I came to a point where I said to myself..

“You know this is true… so what are you going to do about it?”

After praying and wrestling, I decided to commit my life to Jesus.

After rejoicing with me, my new friends suggested that I get baptized, in obedience to the Scriptures.

I waffled. It seemed so significant. So final. I started thinking about all the reasons why I shouldn’t get baptized. There was a spiritual battle taking place in my soul, no doubt.

But I knew I had to do it.

I wanted to declare that I was giving my life to Jesus.

So the date was set.

I chose a location close to my heart, a beautiful waterfall close to Toronto.

I got baptized downstream from the waterfall. My dad was there. My best friend was there (even though he wasn’t a Christian). My new church family was there.

And down in the ice cold water with me (it was the beginning of April).. were the two men who had studied the Bible with me over the past year.

Don’t mind the video quality—this was way back in 2006 :)

I remember going down in the frigid water.

It felt like all my sins were being washed away.

As I came back up, I was filled with a tremendous feeling.

My body was filled with warmth (despite the temperature!). My heart was full. Everyone started singing “I have decided to follow Jesus”.

It was one of the most beautiful moments of my entire life.

I Have Decided to Follow Jesus | Scripture Art

Later that day, after everybody went home and the sun had set, I went for a bike ride. I biked around downtown Toronto with a huge smile on my face. I was singing the song “I have decided to follow Jesus” with a joy I had never experienced. I didn’t care who heard me (I’m sure some people thought I was crazy). But for me, it simply couldn’t be contained.

I wanted the whole world to know that I had decided to follow Jesus!

That’s what baptism means to me.

If you know somebody getting baptized, I hope this blog post has blessed you with some ideas to encourage them in their journey. It’s such a meaningful moment in their journey of faith.

“Though none go with us, still we will follow.”

“No turning back.. No turning back..”

Since my wife is a Christian and I moved to Houston years ago, I decided to get baptized here at https://lhhouston.church/ministries/baptism/, and I’ve been coming here for worship ever since! My life has truly been changed by it, and I will always be grateful to God for giving me a purpose.

I am so proud that you chose to follow Jesus our lord and savior. Peace be with you.

Blessed to read your story. I was baptized as an infant but took the opportunity as an adult to be fully immersed in the Jordan River in Israel. What an experience to know physically the darkness and helpless feeling under black water and to be lifted up into the brightness of the sun. It was clearly a demonstration of what had taken place in my spiritual life years ago. Our God is so good! Remembering uplifts our spirit once again. Thank you for sharing.
