7 Reasons Every Christian Home Needs Scripture Art

Scripture Art

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:6,9

...

God’s Word is powerful. It’s a solid rock that we can build our lives upon. As Christians, it’s our source of spiritual life.

God knows that His Word sustains us. He knows that for us to thrive spiritually, we must write His words on our heart. I believe that’s why He gave the commands above.

The verse from Deuteronomy was written thousands of years ago. But as Christians, it still applies to us. We all need to be reminded of God’s promises on a daily basis.

We believe the best way to do this is through Scripture Art.

Here are 7 reasons why:

1) Scripture Art Reminds Us of God’s truth

Putting Scripture Art on our walls is a simple and beautiful way to remind us of God’s truths.

Every time we pass it, we’re reminded of what God has said. This is simple, but incredibly powerful.

Maybe you’re having an off day. Feeling down. The verses in the artwork will remind you of what you believe. It speaks truth when you’re tempted to believe lies.

It’s not the artwork that does this—but God’s Word that’s within it. That’s the beauty of Scripture Art. In the simple of act of decorating your home, you’re actually equipping yourself (and your family) with a spiritual weapon.

No matter how long we’ve been a Christian, we all need a reminder from time to time.

2) Scripture Art Can Plant & Water Seeds of Faith

I didn’t grow up Christian. In fact, I never heard the gospel until my early 20’s.

I still remember the first Bible verse I read. It was on a card that my mom had given me in college. She had just become a Christian, and she wrote Proverbs 3:5-6 on my birthday card.

I didn’t know it at the time, but a seed was planted.

“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow.” - 1 Corinthians 3:6

Over the next year, I came across Scripture in unexpected places. It was often these verses that impacted me the most.

It was a verse written in an alleyway somewhere, or artwork I saw with a Bible verse on it. As somebody who was seeking truth, these moments felt like clues.

"That’s the power of putting Scripture Art in your home. Anyone who visits your home has the opportunity to read the living word of God."

It felt like God was speaking directly to me.

That’s the power of putting Scripture Art in your home. Anyone who visits your home has the opportunity to read the living word of God. And that’s how seeds are planted.

We plant and water seeds. God makes it grow.

3) You Are Partnering with God in His Promises

This next point is one of my favorites. The idea of partnering with God to accomplish His purposes is pretty profound. But by putting Scripture in the world (and in our home), we can do that!

One of my life verses is in Isaiah 55:

”As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is MY WORD that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.” - Isaiah 55:10-11

I love this verse because God is making a very clear statement. He says that His Word will always accomplish what he desires, and achieve his purposes.

So when we put up Bible verses in our home, we are trusting that God will use His Word to accomplish his desires and achieve his purposes within our home.

That may be the strengthening of our own faith or the planting and watering of another’s. It could be any number of things. But we can have confidence that God's Word is at work. It will never return void.

4) Scripture Art Sparks Conversations About The Bible

Talking about our faith is not always easy.

It can feel awkward to bring it up with family and friends. It’s often challenging to discuss spiritual things with those close to us, without knowing how to ‘break the ice’.

But as Christians, we are called to share about the hope that we have in Christ. It’s a treasure to be shared, not kept to ourselves!

Some of our artwork, especially God’s fingerprint, is a great way to open up a conversation about God.

God's fingerprint has one hand-written verse from every book of the Bible. When people see the artwork, they want to know what’s written within each line.

As our friends and family look into this artwork, it becomes quite natural to ask them questions about the Bible and what they believe.

We often get messages from our customers who have seen this principle at work when they put it up in their homes.

5) To Surround Yourself with Beauty

The places we live and work influence us deeply.

The beauty of nature is a good example of this. Sunsets. Mountains. Oceans. Every detail has been masterfully crafted. That's why our souls come alive when we're surrounded by the beauty of God's creation.

”God made everything beautiful in its time” - Ecc 3:11

As we look to decorate our living spaces, artwork can do something similar. Instead of surrounding ourselves with drab, blank walls, we can surround ourselves with beautiful expressions of human creativity.

Scripture Art is a great solution for this, because it combines the best of both worlds. It's a sacred fusion of human creativity and God's inspired Word.

To surround ourselves with beauty—is to nourish our souls.

6) Scripture Art Helps You Meditate on God's Word

The Bible has a lot to say about the value of meditating on God’s Word.

It brings success (Joshua 1:8), spiritual vitality (Psalm 1:2-3), a sense of wonder (Psalm 77:12-13) and insight above our teachers (Psalm 119:99).

One of the best ways to meditate on something is to always keep it front of mind. To ponder it and think over it. To have it before us day and night.

By putting Scripture Art with Bible verses on our walls, we make it easier for ourselves to meditate and think about God’s Word.

It’s as simple as that.

7) God Commands It

In Deuteronomy, God commands his people to write His Words on their door frames and gates. Every time they entered or left their home they were reminded of his commands.

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates.” Deuteronomy 6:6,9

It would easy to brush this verse off as outdated command out of the Old Testament, but that would be a mistake.

"Filling the places we live and work with beautiful expressions of His Word just makes sense."

God doesn’t command us to do anything without good reason. God loves us and wants the best for us. He wants us to thrive. His commandments are for our good.

As Christians, God’s Word is our primary source of life.

Filling the places we live and work with beautiful expressions of His Word just makes sense.

In Conclusion

Surrounding ourselves with verses that inspire and convict us helps us to stay focused on what matters most.

It’s more than just making our homes look beautiful.

It’s about tapping into the life-changing power of God’s Word by filling every aspect of our lives with its truth.

So there you have it.
