Why It’s Important to Show Appreciation to Pastors

The pastor’s role is often a stressful one. As members of the church, it can be tempting to think all they do is give a good sermon on Sunday.

The truth is, being a pastor is a full-time job. In fact, it’s often more than a full-time job as many pastors work “overtime” every week.

According to Soul Shepherding, 90% of pastors work 55-75 hours per week on average.

Not only do pastors put countless hours into sermon preparation... But they’re often the first ones to visit sick members, counsel weary congregants, and crunch away at the not-so-fun administrative duties.

Not to mention… They’re always ready to counsel and support their congregation on a whim—even if it means being available for a phone call at 2 am.

It’s important to show appreciation to our pastors as they’re often underappreciated for their service of love.

After all is said and done, pastors are usually the most exhausted, overworked, and overwhelmed members of the church body.

We have to remember that they’re human too.

Not only do they often work the hardest, but their position leaves them more prone to criticism. It’s important to show appreciation to our pastors as they’re often underappreciated for their service of love.

Pastor Appreciation Day

There’s no better time to get a gift for your pastor than on Pastor Appreciation Day.

You might be wondering… “When is Pastor Appreciation Day, exactly?”

Well, the date isn’t always the same. The day always falls on the second Sunday of October every year. In 2022, Pastor Appreciation Day is on October 9.

It’s usually best to order a gift for your pastor by mid-September to ensure it arrives on time.

But, if you miss the date, don’t worry.

Pastor Appreciation Day falls within Pastor Appreciation Month—a whole month dedicated to honoring your pastor. Pastor Appreciation Month spans all of October every year. This gives you a bit more time to get a gift. Plus, it’s always nice to spread out the love throughout the month.

You could even give your pastor a gift as a group. At your next small group or Bible study, you could collaborate on ways to bless your pastor together.

Organizing a group gift with other church members is a great way to show your pastor support from the congregation.

Most people want to help in the church, but often don’t know where to start. Organizing a group gift with other church members is a great way to show your pastor support from the congregation.

Gifts for Pastors’ Wives

Pastors’ wives are the unsung heroes within the church body.

Often behind the scenes, most pastors’ wives are working just as hard. Not only are they typically the first source of counsel on sermons… But, they’re also usually running households while serving as a source of strength and leadership within the congregation.

Pastors’ wives typically receive little praise for their unique strength within the body of Christ… And this is all while embodying Proverbs 31.

Don’t forget to pick up a meaningful gift for your pastor’s wife to show her your appreciation as well.

Here are a few of the best gifts for pastors’ wives:

Rose Gold Illuminated Fingerprint

Framed 18x24 Illuminated Fingerprint - Rose Gold

18x24 Illuminated Fingerprint in Rose Gold

Similar to the Gold Illuminated Fingerprint, this fine art print is a special gold foil edition of God’s fingerprint—in rose gold. It's one of four unique fingerprint art prints from our shop.

Featuring one verse from every book of the Bible, this fingerprint artwork is a great option if you’re looking for gifts for your pastor's wife. It’s one of the most popular options for the living room and dining room, as it’s a great conversation piece. And, each line includes one handwritten verse from every book of the Bible.

Clothed in Love

Framed Clothed in Love Art Print | Colossians 3:12

In the letter to the church to Colosse, Paul encourages the recipients: “As God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

This fine art print matched with Colossians 3:12 is a great encouragement gift for any pastor’s wife who embodies the fruits of the Spirit to remind them they are clothed in Christ.

Joy of the Lord is My Strength

Framed Joy of the Lord Art Print | Nehemiah 8:10

As one of the most popular bible verses, Nehemiah 8:10 states: “The joy of the LORD is your strength.”

Pastors’ wives often carry just as much of a burden for their church congregation as pastors. While they’re seen as a source of strength to the church, the truth is they need encouragement just as much as any other church member.

This fine art print acts as a great reminder for pastor’s wives that our strength doesn’t come from our circumstances, but from our savior. The joy that He gives us is just what we need to strengthen us throughout the day.

Bible Verses About Pastor Appreciation

Purchasing a gift for your pastor?

If you really want to make him feel special, remember to include a card where you can encourage your pastor from God’s Word.

Here are some encouraging Bible verses about pastor appreciation you can include with your gift:

_

1 Corinthians 15:58

“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
Pastors can get discouraged just as much as any other church members. But, this verse will help them remember that their labor is not in vain because it is for the Lord.

_

Philippians 4:19

“And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
Pastors often have to make things work with limited resources. It can be particularly challenging for pastors as their income can fluctuate month to month. For pastors, they have to trust God to come through more often than those with “regular” jobs. This verse will encourage them that God will take care of them and reward them for their work.

_

1 Peter 5:2-4

“Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock. And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.”
This passage serves to remind the pastor of his responsibility and encourage him to serve with a willing heart. It also encourages him to look forward to the reward that God will give him at the end for being a good and faithful servant.

_

Psalm 119:130

“The unfolding of your words gives light; it gives understanding to the simple.”
As a pastor, it’s easy to begin to feel that no one is really listening. This verse can remind pastors that people are listening. That the Word of God gives light to everyone and helps them understand and take action on what’s being said.

_

Isaiah 55:10-1

“As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what i desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.”
This passage reminds pastors that God’s Word is strong enough to accomplish whatever he desires. If the pastor’s will aligns with the will of God, he can be sure that it will be fulfilled—despite any worldly, or spiritual, opposition.

The Greatest Gift for Pastors

Most pastors battle with discouragement because ministry is beyond difficult.

While seen as pillars of strength, they’re often the ones who need support. Most pastors work beyond a typical 9 to 5 to support their congregation, often leaving them weary and burdened.

Sometimes all we need is an encouraging word to keep going. In fact, that’s often the greatest gift you can give your pastor. It means more than you think to let them know how they’ve specifically made a difference in your life.

It’s important to show pastors gratitude for their dedicated service to the Kingdom and the church body.

These unique gifts for pastors can go a long way in showing your pastor the appreciation they deserve.

One of the best gift we can give to our pastors is prayer. Their hardships is unordinary. Always pray for your Pastors. https://finalword.info/

I ordered two of God’s fingerprints and they were beautiful but was wondering if they came in a smaller size like 11X13 ? The 16X 20 is awfully hard to find a frame to fit.
